Ok all you Stanley gurus..saw an *Ibanez* Stanley Clarke bass at Guitar Exchange in Catonsville MD (sorry, no website). That was a first.. any back story on this? Curious! --J |

Stanley had at least 3 of them. They (Ibanez) came to a show and measured his brown bass, then the Ibanez basses showed up at his house one day. Late '70s I think, and they're pictured in the foldout of one of his live album from '80 or so, along with his Alembics. John |

Stanley is also well known for his Carl Thompson Basses - as much as for his Brown Bass. Stanley had quite a habit of appearing in ads for many manufacturers. I guess it's easy to get used to all that endorsement money and free gear. (Message edited by rami on February 08, 2006) |
