You're a good man Rory! Keep making those trips to Santa Rosa, and don't forget, 'Way back home' next gig!
Hmm, there's that peace and love message again... can't be said enough.

Rory:

I really believe this site needs to hear from you and people with the fortitude to hold their own view. I think your leaving will leave a void that will be difficult to fill. I hope you will reconsider, I know I have benefit greatly from your input. I have also purchased from you as well. Maybe it will be just a cooling off period (i.e. we're on a break or perhaps Festivus?). I know I take them from time to time on the AudiogoN website. Sometimes we take these things way too seriously. Find peace and good health, and please keep in touch. Also, reconsider, I suspect you will miss us a lot more than you think.

why post a leaving thread?
why do people post these things?
if you have no use for the site anymore, why not just log out and not come back. I will never understand the need for final last words saying
"these are my final words".

seems ironic.

bye bye then, good luck.

Rory; I've sent you an email.

Spose; it seems to me that there can be many reasons why someone would post a "leaving thread". For instance, if I were to suddenly stop posting, I'm guessing that at least one or two members of the board would be wondering what happened to Dave; so it might be helpful to some on the board to let them know. There are several members of the board who have significant health issues; and the sudden disapearance from the board of someone with such issues could be worrisome to some members. Because through this board we are corresponding with each other regularly, over time we come to "know" members of the board similarly to knowing friends in the towns and communities in which we live. If a person suddenly moved from their home to a different city a thousand miles away, there may be friends who would appreciate a word to that effect. An on-line discussion group can be similar in that regard. These are a few things off the top of my head that I hope help answer your question of why people post "leaving threads". It can be like popping down to the local pub and telling the other regulars "hey, just wanted to let you know that something's come up in life and I'm not going to be here on Friday evenings any more".

I understand letting people know one is leaving. I don't understand not telling them why....

Rory,

I was sorry to read your post.Your contributions will be missed, your knowledge and experience are valuable here.I'm sure I speak for many in saying that 'The Club' provides anyone who stops by with a wealth of knowledge, support and encouragement articulately shared, politely and with good humour. In my experience your posts display all these qualities and help make this forum what it is.
I hope you'll reconsider but if not you have my respect and very best wishes for the future. It was very good of you to answer my questions on your Dean Pace EUB,thank you.As 811952 has said, please check in once in a while to let us know you're ok.

Wishing you health and happiness,

Simon.

Rory, we do not really know each other so pardon my big nose. Based on your thoughtful and insightful posts, I would respectfully suggest, that this is the place for you if you ever have a change of heart.

I'm relatively new around here, but I sense a tight united family atmosphere for the most part. It's surprisingly sad when we lose an Alembic soul like Danno or yourself.

When you are able, you can always come home. Key is under the mat.
