Well, this dvd finally arrived - ordered near the start of January - but it was well worth the wait. It's a very good example of how well a group of world class musicians can work together and park their egos outside. Naturally, Clapton and Sanborn get the lions share of the spotlight but Marcus Millers work is astounding. Apart from a couple of solos, he spends the gig doing what the bass player is there to do, reinforcing the music. However, he manages to do it with the style and skill you'd expect from a player of his calibre. Don't expect the sort of bass pyrotechnics you see on his solo DVD, instead, he concentrates on working well with Steve Gadd, laying down a steady groove. If you like Jazz and Blues, you'll love this DVD. Graeme |
