Seems like about once a month someone comments "hey Im from Portland too". So I think we should have Portland thread going. If you have a connection to Alembics and Portland in any way then drop a post here. Perhaps after a little while we can get together in person and congradulate each other on our impeccable tastes in musical equipment.

Well, it ain't much, but here goes. The New Riders of the Purple Sage, (one of my favorite bands from *#@%^!$#! years ago), played Alembics. IIRC Marmaduke (John Dawson) played a series guitar and Dave Torbert played a series bass. One of my favorite songs of theirs was "Portland Woman".

I had a couple of cases up in Portland a few years ago. I really liked the town. I forget the name, but you guys have a heckuva bookstore up there.

Funny, I was just in Oakland 3 weeks ago. Bought a bass in Blue Note music in Berkeley. Toured Alembic then also.

Powell's is the bookstore here.

Dave:

Blue Note is a cool little store, sort of a safe harbor away from the GCs of this world.

It's a set neck balance K with Europa controls and a crown peghead. There's a picture of it somewhere in one of these forum folders...oddly enough I lost a lot of the pictures I had of it due to reformatting my hard drive...
