Hi friends,

you know me. Here comes another wild idea.
Well not actually entirely mine.
There is a bass-player over here in Belgium Axl Peleman who had this idea. He wanted to have as much bass-players as possible gathering in a large hall and playing the same notes, in kind of mass-groove. Well ...he did it and I think there were some 150 bass-players just playing togetheter. I couldn't make it alas to the place.
But (here's my "but" again ...o-oh)
Can't we try to organise something similar.
Let's see if we can organise the AWS: the Allembic World Summit- home. First year let's say the "home" will be Santa Rosa (obvious). Can you imagine? Some 300 bass-players with (small) rigs and instruments gathering at the "mother-plant" for a pick-nick? HA!
Next year it could be in St- David in Minnesota, or the woods of Sint-Joris-Weert in Belgium, or Aix-en-Provence in France, or Pori in Finland, or ... ?
2004 "AWS-home: Helena" (Montana?)
Sounds good no?
(Yes I know: AWS-home sounds as "awesome").
Come-on girls and boys, put the fantasy at work!
Stay at the low-end!
Be Alembicious!

Paul (just one of those Pauls hanging around here a lot).

Hey Paul,

I'm with you on that one. Tell me when and where and let's do it.
300 bass players?!?! That could get messy!?!?

With that sustain, we could produce the "eternal brown note" (for all of you South Park fans !!)

I'm glad someone caught on to the "messy" reference.

Thanks Stoney,

Dino

Dean and Stoney,
I don't know what your talking about. Shame on me: I never saw South Park in my life!
However, the good news is: we are already 3 to play! Not enough for "The Big Bong" (300 bassplayers playing a low E - or a B but not everyone is keen on 5 strings) but I' m curious how many are going to enlist here?
Welcome Dino, welcome Jonathan.

Paul

PS: Maybe "the other Paul" will come too (I need him as a professional welcomer -haha) and maybe brother Mikey can make it too!

Stoney,

Why don't you explain the Southpark thing. As far as the messy thing, Paul, I'm not sure if this is an "urban legend" or not but, years ago some people experimented with a form of riot control by exposing potential rioters to loud volumes of super low frequencies. The result was these people losing control of certain bodily functions. Like I tell my daughter, you can't run around the house with a "poopy" diaper.
Anyway, that's all I know about it. If anyone has any more info to add, well I don't know if we should really continue with the subject. We should really focus on Paul's suggestion. We could really make this work if we made a weekend out of it.

OK, Paul....South Park is sort of an adult humor cartoon on Comedy Central. It involves four foul-mouth, mischevious 8 year old kids. They were attending a "recorder" convention and re-wrote the music to include the "brown note" (of course recorders won't actually hit the brown note) but anyway, when they came to that part of the song, things got really messy, if you know what I mean.

Yea, baby, just kick in that low Q filter and we can rumble trucks off of the freeway!!!

Dino:

There is a company in Amherst, NH. that sells the crowd control devices you mentioned. www.amazing1.com , I don't know any more about the rest of the story though...

Paul, the other one :-)

I don't know about all playing at once, but I would be up for a "gathering" of Alembic owners. Maybe even a tour of the Alembic facility?

Paul, the western half.

I was going to ask how you would ever find a place like that but then I read your profile.
That site has quite a few things that are pretty interesting. Thanks for the info.
Hey I know with the holidays coming up it's going to get crazy but maybe after, we can hook up for a beer and maybe discuss an Alembic gathering.

Hey friends,

great : the "Alembic USA chapter" at work.
It would be great to put together some ideas on gathering "grounds": where, needs, wants. Just ideas, nothing concrete yet. It could be a centre with lot,s of hall's and meeting points. It could be a kind of weekend-resort with lot's of small houses and one meeting hall, with camping facilities.
Nothing stylish and fancy I guess, maybe a tremendous huge bar on a lonely spot in the Nevada desert... I don't know.
The garden behind the Alembic plant in Santa Rosa?
Just things to discuss.
Well ... it's a pity I'm not living in the neighbourhood!

Friend Dino,

thank you for those kind words. You know: it's the first messageboard I'm involved and I like it a lot! Even that far that sometimes I see if a phone number is on the profile to give a call. The voice of someone make shim more "alive" for me.
Anyway, I can see that my "but" is getting famous ;-)

Paul,

You can call me anytime!! 978-458-3620. I can't remember what our country code is though. Anyway, that goes for anyone here on the board. If I'm not home, leave a message. By the way, I've got a new lesson up on my site. Some fun metronome exercises for everyone. Let me know what you think!!! http://www.monotunesmusic.com

Peace - Dino
