Well we went to the show last night. No offers to play Stanley's bass with the band. :-( The theatre is from the 1920's and holds around 800 people. There's not a bad seat anywhere on the orchestra level. Can't speak to the balconies. We were center stage just under the balcony about 15 rows back. I haven't seen either George or Stanley since the late 70's. I was pleasantly suprised at how loose the show was. It appeared to be more of a couple of old friends getting together to jam as opposed to perform. They played a variety of solo, project and cover tunes. My only complaint was the mix. All to often the bass drum and bass synth would drown out Stanley and George. I also think the PA was a little too big for the venue. Knowing the venue this is the theatres fault not the performers. Overall well worth the time and money and I would gladly go again. Stanley had his standard rig and looked to be playing a vermilion topped Series bass. Both George and Stanley setup after the show for pictures and autographs. They were very personable and it was fun to listen to them banter back and forth about their past experiences. Adam, I made boneless chicken breasts with Prociutto and Fontina cheese served on Polenta with a home cooked fresh tomato sauce and a green salad from the garden. Tonight I plan an apple wood grilled pork tenderloin with a mustard chipotle glaze. Fresh steamed spinach or chard (haven't decide which I want to pick) splashed with a little malt vinegar and spanish saffron rice or a roasted garlic and pine nut couscous. Keith |
