The new John Alec Entwistle bio documentary "An Ox's Tale" is now available on DVD. It was put together drummer/singer and JE bandmate Steve Luongo as a tribute to John. It's decent. It features interviews with Pete Townshend (Daltrey is conspicuously absent) and contemporaries such as Chris Squire, Roger Glover, JEB bandmates, etc. Most of the footage here has appeared elsewhere and it paints a rather rosy picture of JAE. As Steve had great affection and respect for John, most of the seedy aspects of John's life, as well as his OD cause of death, are not mentioned and/or are glossed-over. Still, despite the sanitized rendition, the vid was worth watching. FWIW, Peter Frampton narrates.

Recommended for the die-hard Who/JAE fanatics only.

With all the Who faithful on this site you mean to tell me nobody else is interested in this vid and/or has seen it already?

Guys,
of course I have seen the DVD already. It was released last week here in Germany.
Well I know that my buddy Steve has co-produced this DVD but I must say that I am not 100% happy with it. It is too much of a general WHO info DVD and there is too much material on it that is already known for years. The only things that really interested me are the footage of the late JE. All the stand-still photos shown are already well known from different sources on the web and the quality of mixed in videos (the isolated JE or some concert footages) are of badder quality than the originals are.

Just my opinion, but otherwise a must have for a serious JE fan like me.

Yes indeed! Ollie cuts quite the bella figura in his stylish blazer and spider necklace!

Steve should have consulted Oliver when he made the vid...it could have been so much better. Regardless, at least the tribute was made. Kudos to Steve for having his heart in the right place.

FWIW, I hear theres quite a demand for this vid. Apparently, some of the more high profile net suppliers are sold-out!

Guys,
thanks for the nice words.
"Boris", the spider, is custom made for me by a german jeweller following Johns original necklaces and the shirt is an original one worn by JE.
