that goes to show you don't need a 'twenty string bass' to make it sing!

Brother Paul, be glad you can go I-V, I'm still going I-I. I tried I-V once but kept overshooting it and going I-VIII

That's from "Live at the Quick" by Bela Fleck & the Flecktones...
required viewing IMHO and some beautiful compositions as well.

Thanks for the postings. I ventured into a Les Claypool black hole after that.

Huh ...a VII ...that's HUGE!
Brother Sam ...a small off topic: my daughter went to Ireland-Waterford for a 6 month study opportunity. I drove her overthere and I had an amazing and wonderful time in Ireland: I LOVE that country and it seems I only saw a not so spectacular part!
Smithwick and Beamish rules!
(Huhuh ..I kept far away grom the Old Paddy's, Bushmills, Tullamore and other golden liquid Jameson's)
Jameson ...what can bring us back to bass-topics no???

Did somebody say Jamerson?

One of the finest live performances I've ever seen (albeit on tape). What an amazing talent Marvin Gaye was- I doubt you could re-capture that magic in a 1000 studio takes.

Good Good Stuff!

I never quite figured out the you tube. Sometimes someone will forward me something and it'll play immediately, but when I click on links like this one I just get the "loading" screen, and it never loads. Maybe some work-related firewall? Dunno, am I missing something?

Firewall settings at work would be my guess.

Lol, me too. I was digging on Victor and then when it was over I spotted a Primus clip and off I went.

Wow - just watched the Marvin Gaye clip - that's the first time I've seen "the Hook" in action - Victor does some great stuff with 8 fingers on the fretboard, but James Jamerson did it all with just the index finger of his right hand!

That's not to put down Victor Wooten - saw him earlier this year in Japan, it was a great show! Got to meet him afterwards:

victor and me!

(My wife and I in the middle, my buddy Jack on the left - he used to do lights, then sound for my old band Jiggle the Handle (later renamed just Jiggle) - he was doing sound for Victor in Japan!)
