I just talked with Will, of Will Gunn Guitars, (our Alembic dealer in Hendersonville, Tenn) via phone for a few minutes and he will have his website up and running soon, so we will have something new to look at, discuss and buy from! His homepage is up now: www.willgunnguitars.com

...He said inventory will be listed soon.....

I like his style..
"Alembic is the ONLY brand I sell"

if only all guitar shops thought that way ;-)

He is a great guy to work with. He has a great knowledge of Alembic and also of options one would normally not think of. I got my 5-string bass from him a few years back and we are currently working on a guitar.

Will's shop is just a few miles from my house, so I had the pleasure of spending a couple hours there a week ago. He's just one of these NICE guys you'd love to do business with. And he 'gets it': He's owned and played ALEMBICs since the 70s, and knows them VERY well.

He'll be posting pictures soon to his website but these are the gems he has for sale that I saw and held and played, all brand new and ready to go:

1. His COTM, 'CocoBolo Fantasy'. This is a LOT of bass. C-T-C Coco top and back, Ebony lams, FatBoys, gold hardware, you can see it all under 'Previous Customs'. It is the most bass I've EVER played, the ebony and coco really IS the living end. It's unplayed, comes with a new warranty and case, and he's selling it at 25% off the 2000 price list, $7695 w/case: A STEAL, you couldn't THINK about it at today's prices!

2. 2006 Brown Bass. I'm not the biggest Stanley nut, and I'd never held a Brown Bass. According to Will, this one is the classic BB recipe: Short scale, mahogany and cherry neck, Walnut front and back over Myrtle body core, in a true oil finish (NO maple!)in the correct Small Standard shape. Anniversary electronics, AXY's, side red LEDs at n/c, abalone ovals in an ebony board. It felt REAL short after the BigRedBass, but I suddenly felt REALLY Stanley! $5995 w/case.

3. Essence 5: Burl redwood face over mahogany body. This particular burl RW in spots looks exactly like ostrich leather in its grain pattern, kind of auburn in color. Stunning. Maple pinstripe neck and peghead face to match the top. Double MXYs, side red LEDs, Orion 3+2 head, Q-switch. Priced from the 2005 list, $4599 w/case.

4. Orion 4 bass. Essence electronics, w/ 2 FatBoys and Q-switch. Dumbfounded: PurpleHeart top and peghead face. AMAZING looking axe. Mahogany body w/flame maple accent layer, brass back cover plates. Pinstripe set-neck with Orion 4 head. He got this during a $500 Free Option Special of the Month at 2005 prices, so it's a VERY reasonable $3159 w/case.

As my head is just SWIMMING after seeing four very special ALEMBICs one after another, be sure when you talk to Will that I've gotten the descriptions right!

Incidentally, he has the demo rig from hell:
Your choice of either a Walter Woods (the red one) OR an F1X/SuperFilter/QSC into FOUR Acme single 10 cabs!!

He's since received an Amber SkyLark and has a Balance K Mark King due in this coming week, and LOTS of things on order. Will is aiming to be the second largest stocking dealer after Bass Central, and has set BIG wheels in motion to do just that. And he's VERY reasonable in his pricing, as you can see above.

Will has that same wonderfully sunny and helpful buzz, just like when I talk to anybody in Santa Rosa. I can not think of a nicer guy, or anyone I'd be any more comfortable with spending big money. And I think it is wonderful that there is now an ALEMBIC-ONLY store. Somebody is going to get a steal on his Custom of the Month, WAY less than duplicating it today.

Thanks, Will!
