For those of you who own an Alembic and live in the Midwest (OH, IN, KY, etc.), would you be willing to meet up with me sometime in the next month and allow me to play your instrument? I'm looking into buying a Series I, but no store in the area carries Alembics, and I don't know of anyone locally who owns one. If you'd be willing to do this, please email me at ck29906(at)ohio(dot)edu. Thank you. |

Yes. I've got a gig in Terre Haute, Indiana, tomorrow night, but that's out of your way. ;) We can work something out. I'll send you an email. John |

Chris-I live in Huber Heights and gig the Western Ohio area w/ the band Legaleyes(www.myspace.com/legaleyesrocks) I have an Excel 5, which isn't quite a Series 1, but if you want to get together you are more than welcome to check her out. Wish I'd have checked you posting out yesterday. We played the Avalanche in Troy last night, and thats the closest we'll be to you for a while. Absolute music in Fairborn is a dealer, but they don't usually carry many in stock (not much call for Ultra High End Basses in this hole!) and they have none in stock right now. The Drinking Gourd in Dayton was a dealer, but I havn't been there in years. Let me know if you want to come to a gig and check her out, or maybe I could meet you @ Absolute or something. I'm always happy to talk basses, especially Alembic!! Mike...... |

John, My email is ck299906(at)ohio(dot)edu, not ck29906. Extra 9 in there. That should work-thanks for your help! 5string, I'll see what I can do-Huber is no big deal for me, drive-wise, since I'm in Springfield. |

Yep-I had a great time with John's Series I. Playing it was a revelation-it didn't blow me away at first, but compared to everything else in the store, nothing else came close-it simply goes to show that there's nothing like a Series bass. We'll see how things work out. (Message edited by 82daion on December 24, 2006) |

Thanks, 'Ho (ho ho, in keeping with the season)... ;) I would guess that Chris would benefit greatly from test-driving some other models of Alembic basses as well, for context and perhaps something on the order of an East-Meets-West setup would ease his transition from B/M/H tone controls to filters. C'mon, guys! Let's send him into Alembic overload! Merry Christmas, everybody... John |

Looks like I won't be joining the "club" just yet, since my main means of financing the bass fell through. At least I have a goal now. :D |

And a nice goal it is. Like a lot of us we're gonna have to hit the lottery first. On second thought..it is tax return time..Hhhmmmmm.. Best of luck. NLP |

Maybe,if there is a next time, anybody who is willing in the midwest,we could all meet at a real honest to God Alembic dealer on the southside of Indy called Guitarworks. I would love to show off my Rogue to people who actually know what it is and who made it. |

That would be cool. Given enough notice, I can do a Saturday afternoon and bring my Series along. I bet Chris could be strong-armed into suffering through another reasonably short road trip.. ;) I didn't think they were still a dealer? The last time I was there (a couple of years ago), I asked about Alembics and the sales guy didn't have any idea what I was talking about, but happily tried to sell me the one Warwick they had in stock. Musta been the new guy. John |

Hey John, They are listed as an Alembic dealer officially but it's been a long while since I've been to the place. They probably don't have a single Alembic in they're showroom but I will find out sometime. |

What model Daion do have Chris? I own a couple of Power MK II's. Very nice basses too.

Olie: Great minds think alike. I have the same two versions of the Power Mark XX guitars! (I believe yours are Power Mark XXs rather than Power Mark IIs. A check of the Daion catalog doesn't reveal any model called the "Power Mark II" and does list the XX guitars and basses). Bill, tgo |

Bill you are correct. They are Power MK XX. I haven't played them in a while but they are great instruments. |

Great instruments indeed! IMHO, my Power Mark XX guitars are the finest production line guitars I've played. Nicer than Fender, Gibson, even than PRS!. I brought one to Santa Rosa to show to Susan. She was duly impressed with the quality of workmanship and told me if she were to make one, she'd have to charge me $3000 for the woodwork alone. That being said, between my Series I and my Alembicized Fernandes, I don't play the Daions all that often. I'm sure you understand. Bill, tgo |

I have a Power Mark XX bass like Olie's red one. It's rather shocking how it feels fairly similar to 811952's Series I-the sound doesn't stack up, of course, but they are very well-crafted instruments. |

They are definately some Matsumoko's better work. I bet they'd sound great with an Alembic P-J setup. |
