I admit that I'm not the most skilled internet searcher. I have tried to find these and have struck out. Does anyone have the Edgar Winter Group album/CD with the lyrics on it? Second verse: All over the country I've seen it the same. Nobody's winning at this kind of game. We've gotta do better. It's time to begin. You know all the answers. (This is what I'm not sure about) We're stronger within. or Feel stronger within. Thanks, Rich |

I wonder if he was in a "Worship" state of mind when that was written. I have for many years thought of playing that song in Church. |

Thanks, Bill. I didn't type all the lyrics because I was quite sure about the others. There are several that are different from what I previously thought they were. I should have asked before I practiced it 50 times. Doc, I agree. "Free Ride" seems to be a very spiritual song. One thing I have always thought is interesting about "Free Ride" is that it was written by Dan Hartman, EWG's bassist. However, on the album credits at least, he didn't play bass or sing it. Thanks, Rich |

You may be interested to know that in the mid '70s there was a TV music show in New Zealand called "Free Ride". Each episode featured a different band live in studio - and each band opened the show with a rendition of "Free Ride". |

As Bill mentioned ... the best way to find lyrics of any type is to open google. Type "lyrics, and the title of the song you're looking for. I'll tell ya ... between programs like Limewire to find cover tunes and Google for lyrics it's made being a cover musician a walk in the park. You guys my age, remember the "old days" when we had to BUY an album or "45" so we could learn a song? Remember the off the wall lyrics we'd THINK they were singing because we couldn't understand the singer on the original recording? (After listening to a line 1000 times with head phones on) After googling old tunes I can't believe some of the WRONG lyrics I sang in night clubs for years!! As a cover musician I say Thank GOD for the internet and programs like Limewire and google! |

Thanks, David. I've always liked EWG and Free Ride. I wrote a Wierd Al type version of it for a local concert. One of the guys I sometimes play with said he really can't get into doing Wierd Al but he would cover Free Ride. So, that's what we're doing. I really like it and am jazzed about performing it.
