Just sat down and put on my Kansas library. I really think that these guys were so under rated. What got played on the radio in most markets didn't even touch what the band was really about. The writing. The Musicianship. The vocals harmonies. Rhythm madness. Discuss |

"Gnat Attack", "Bringing it back", "Nobody's home", "The Wall", "Song for America", "Miracles out of Nowhere", man you can keep going(and Dave Hope's bass tone!). My band had the pleasure of opening for Kansas back in'01 in Charlotte,N.C. and not even halfway through the show it started pouring down rain. But what I did hear was nothing short of perfection. Yes, what a band!! |

Song for America is on right now. I really dig the lyrics. But Lyrically speaking, "The Wall" and "Miracles out of Nowhere" are just heavy tunes. Livgren wrote some really deep stuff. I've seen them several times. Everytime was with Livgren |

You would probably enjoy Livgren's autobiography Seeds of Change. He goes into what and how he was thinking when he wrote a lot of his music. Good stuff. |

I have "Seeds of Change". A friend of mine gave it to me a few weeks ago. Another smokin' piece of work. And with Ronnie James Dio singing about God too. |

I haven't heard the recording just read the book. There's a lot of good insight into Kerry Livgren. Some good photos also. |

I didn't realize that you were talking about a book. Maybe I should get my money back on that speed reading course. |

Notelling maybe. I know Kerry was writing for The God. But Ronnie may have been singing for a god. I have spent some time with DIO in the past. Infact, we ran up quite a tab for Sushi in SanFran one night about 10 years ago. Really nice guy. Very talented. But very misguided. |

It's okay with me to label as "misguided" what one would not wish upon oneself. And then there are people who do not wish religion upon themselves. Matter of perspective. |
