High everyone! A truly wonderful, happy, healthy, no hassle 420 to all. I'll be celebrating tonight by gigging with both my bands, back-to-back, at a benefit 420 party for the Cannabis Action Network. It will be the stage debut of "Big Irv'", my recently acquired 1977 Series I 12 string. Nice, appropriate song, Tom. "I don't have a drug problem, I have a police problem." Keith Richards Bill, tgo |

Well, I hope the REST of y'all are enjoying the festivities... unfortunately, as me n my gal our buying our first house, and I need to find a job that makes more money, I've had to abstain for the past several weeks to dry out... to broaden options for employment. Gag. Drug testing is such bullshit. Like prohibition accomplishes anything... except furthering the police state. What a joke. More people die from secondhand cigarette smoke each year than from ALL "illegal" drugs put together. (FACT) More people die from the LEGAL drugs each year than from all the "illegal" drugs put together. (FACT) In fact, more people die from EATING EGGS than from all the "illegal" drugs put together. (FACT) I say "illegal" 'cause in fact, they're NOT illegal. The highest law in the land, the U.S. Constitution, recognizes that I have a right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"... and you'll note there is NOT any "subject to 'government' approval" clause. Rant, rant, rant, take a toke for me, guys!!! |

Mark, I thought for sure that Vegas was going to legalize last year. Fortunately, working in IT, I haven't had to do any drug tests (since I was in the Army). Do the casinos drug test? To be clear, I am over 18 years clean, but the whole drug testing thing is just invasive. Bill, I hope you played your Larry Robinson inlaid Fernandes. Bradley |

Gig was a blast! Unfortunately, in the rush to get back from Redding (215 miles away where I started the day in court), pack up and hump the P.A., set it up, etc., I forgot the camera. I did bring my Sony minidisc recorder and asked the sound guy to turn it on for our sets. Murphy's law - I don't know how he did it, but the only band that actually got recorded was the 3rd (I played with the first and second) waaaaaahhhhhhhh! I played the 12 string and the Alemfer? Ferlembic? Yes, the Fernandes with the Larry Robinson leaves and fatty inlay and Alembic guts. Mark: I completely agree with you, though I've never heard the one about eggs before. My usual soundbite is that each year 1000-1500 people in the U.S. die from aspirin poisoning, while, in the entire recorded history of the world, not a single human has ever died from cannabis poisoning. Most scientists believe it is completely non-toxic, though there are some who believe it could cause a fatality if a person smoked a joint the size of a telephone pole in 15 minutes! By the way, "Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness" isn't in the Constitution. It's in the Declaration of Independence which has no legal force whatsoever (as opposed to the Constitution which still apparently has a little legal force IF it's in the the gov't's interest). D'oh!!! Whoa. Uh... yeah, that's right... whoops... thanks for the correction, Bill. It's been a while since I read (John) Robbin's "Diet For A New America"... but I seem to recall the estimated deaths from consumption of eggs (in the U.S.) was about 3000 per year...? I'm pretty certain that deaths from poor dieting -if I were to expand the claim to "deaths from consumption of 'fast foods' and fatty foods- would significantly exceed those from all "illegal" drugs put together. A key point I use as a "sound bite" is the point the Founding Fathers made about government deriving it's "just powers" from the "consent of the governed"... I DO consent (to the extent it's applicable) to ALLOW the "government" to act as an agent of my (and everyone elses') right to self-defense. I DO NOT consent to have the "government" tell me how to live. NO ONE has this right... and therefore, no one has the (rational/logical/moral) authority to delagate this "right" to another. "Civilization" is based on the extent to which human beings recognize, and (politically) implement the "golden rule." If it's "wrong" for someone to do something to me -say, bash my head in, and/or imprison me for failing to do what they want- then it's wrong for me to do that to another. So passing laws that recognize this, and prohibit me from bashing in someones head and/or imprisoning them for doing something I may disapprove of, are legitimate, and don't constitute an infrigement on my "rights"... since there are no grounds upon which I could claim any "right" to bash in someones head or imprison them for not doing what I want -in the first places. The ONLY LEGITIMATE "laws" are laws which implement/facillitate implementation of the "golden rule." Laws which are IDEALOGICAL in nature -which prescribe punishment for the failure to conform to arbitrary idealogical notions... WHIMS... are NOT legitimate. PERIOD. If people would just grasp this simple distiction, most of the problems our society and our world has would vanish relatively quickly. Take care gang! |

I'm proud to declare I've smoked in Tony Blair's presence. He apparently attended one of the Dead shows in London in 1990. Mark |
