While I'd love to have an Alembic guitar to mess around with, I'm really a bass player and the right deal just hasn't come around. I have an opportunity to pickup a Parker NiteFly M for pretty reasonable money ($700 in newish condition) and am wondering if any of you gee-tar types have experience with these or an opinion. They look pretty nice on the surface and versatile, and I've loved the Parker Fly Classics that I've noodled on in the past. As far as I can tell, the NiteFly M is a bolt-on version of the Fly Classic. The pickups may be different, but the rest of the config and guts look to be the same. Thanks- Bob | ||

I have a NiteFly M and it's a very versatile guitar. Piezo in the bridge with two humbuckers and coil taps for single coil sound. You can go all piezo for very acoustic sound, double humbucker, single humer, dual single or single/single coil. With a stereo cord you can go piezo and any combination off the humbuckers. Very versatile. The neck is fast. I am a bass player first and can hold my own on the 6-banger. If you can get a NifeFly M for that price (especially with the Parker Hardshell case) you can at least get your money back if not more, but I doubt you'll want to do that. At that price you can't go wrong, in my opinon. drr | ||

Thanks! It's a local deal from someone who was selling on eBay and didn't get a bid. From the pics I have seen, it looks like an interesting piece of mahogany, too. Just the gig bag, stereo cable and whammy bar are mentioned as included, but I suspect resale value won't be an issue. Do you have any comparison against the "real" Fly Classic or Deluxe? I did hear some demos of the various settings from someplace on the Parker website. I was looking at these or some variant of a Fender Ultra as a versatile and easy-playing guitar to leave on the stand in the living room. | ||

After I posted my response last night I took out my NiteFly and played it a while. I had not gotten it out in a few months since I had been fortunate enought to acquire my Series I 6 string (surprise,surprise that's all I have been playing lately.) I had kind of forgotten what a really great guitar the NiteFly M is. I misspoke just a bit. You can get all of the configurations, with the piezo settings on or off with a mono cord and then with the stereo cord you can shoot the piezo to a different amp (I usually use a small acoustic amp or a small PA system) and shoot the humers to one of my regular guitar amps. So, you can truly sound like two guitars going at once – just like the Series I. I love stereo guitars. WE have a Parker dealer near where I live up in Murray, Ky. That's where I got my NiteFly and I have tried a Fly Classic and a Fly Mojo. Believe it or not, I prefer the NiteFly. While I usually prefer neck through basses or guitars, the NiteFly has a really nice configuration. I seemed to have read somewhere, I do recollect, that some guitarists who have played them say the NiteFly is the best bolt on neck guitar they have ever played. Without getting into that debate (as I have an American Tele, a Jeff Beck American Strat and others) it is a Very nice guitar.
