Hey folks: I'm getting back into experimental building of basses and guitars, and have a question that may seem a bit..er..stupid. I love the way that Alembic uses veneer for accent stripes between laminations. I'm just finding myself in a bit of sticker shock when it comes to shopping for veneer, since it seems that everyone is selling the veneer for the face-value -- pretty figure and such. Is there someone out there that sells plain-jane veneer, or is there a keyword I should be using in my search for this kind of veneer -- not something that is figured, just in the right color so that I can laminate it to be seen on the side as pinstriping? Any other comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! --T |

Hi Jeff, I've got some sheets of Elm you could have. They're about 24" by 14". Problem is, I'm in the UK and you aren't! But, if the shipping costs aren't too bad, you're welcome to a few sheets. Rob |

I bought all of my veneer on ebay. I thought it was pretty reasonable. I think most of the Alembic highlight lams are more like .100 or .125 thick though. For that you really need to buy a planer. |
