I like mine with cheese and grilled onions, fries on the side.

(Sorry Danno, couldn't help myself. The name "El Whappo" has always cracked me up - sounds like the new burger from Carl's Jr.)

Danno-

Paul (Mele_Aloha) just bought 4 or 5 Accugroove cabs. He's pretty quick (same day) on the email- if he doesn't pop in here soon I'm sure he'd give you a review if you emailed him.

The El Whappo is the best full range MI loudspeaker that I've heard and I have no hesitation recommending them to anyone that can afford them.

The Jr doesn't have quite the same weight in the bottom end. Its great for a 4 string - but not as good on low B as, say, an Acme B4. But it has slightly smoother mids and highs than the Acme.

The only downside is they are bulky. But they are a lot lighter than they look thanks to the neo drivers.

I'm picking it up Tuesday. I have a recording session next week. I'll bring that, my ul212 and f1x, sf2, plx 3402 along with a few 5ers. All the reviews were positive on the cab so I'm taking the chance.
Looks like I'll be selling the Acme cabs b2 b4 and an epi t115 if anyone is looking fer sum gear.

Tried it out with several basses, Walnut Distillate 5, Kay and her upgraded brother and Vermillion Essense 5. I'm liking the sound very much. A little quieter than the ul212 but they will make a good team. It is exceptional in a series config with the four 12s moving together. Slightly larger and a tad heavier than the epi but not unmanagable.Thank God for Neo drivers! I'll keep my t310 but the Acmes and t115 will be sold to the highest offer thumper.
Thanks for all your info gentlemen.

Danno:

I've been using Accugroove cabs for more than a year now. I've got an El Whappo, Jr, 2 Tri-112's and a Tri115L. I really love them all! I hate to say "the best" when it comes to tone (unless, of course I am talking about an Alembic!) That said, IMHO Accugroove cabs are the most musical I have ever played. Accugroove's design philosophy is to produce a relatively flat signal which can then be tweaked by the player using his/her bass, pre-amp and other outboard devices. In practical terms, that means that they don't "scoop" the mids for you (like many other cabs makers do) or add energy at around 200Hz (another common trick used by other makers). Consequently, I suppose I would say that Accugroove cabs sound like my Alembics, only louder :-)

My primary gigging cab is the EW, Jr. I love it! It is relatively portable, weighing in at 70 lbs, and it can handle just about any gig you could throw at it. I play 5 string, and it handles my "B" with ease. Tone for days! I do most of my gigging in Philadelphia and sometimes NYC, and there are a lot of load-ins that feature one or two flights of stairs! In that situation I will sometimes use 2 Tri 112L's stacked. Each 112L cab weighs only 38 lbs, and my back thanks me. The Tri 112 uses the same driver that Accugroove uses for the 12" subwoofer on the EW, Jr, so 2 112L's sound pretty similar to the EW, with perhaps a tad more low end. You can't go wrong either way!
