John McLaughlin is coming to the Carolina Theatre in Durham, NC on Sept. 13th. It's a great place to see a concert if you have the opportunity. Keith Corrected date. (Message edited by keith_h on June 08, 2007) |

Saw him with Chick Corea when I played Montreux. It totally made my brain hurt! Amazing musician, for certain. Wish it were closer to me! |

Cool bass player. Here's a little 60 second mp3 of Feraud taking a break on For Jaco from McLaughlin's Industrial Zen CD. |

Very nice clip Dave. I've been humming and hahing over wether to shell out for Industrial Zen and that's swung me to the yes vote;-) I last saw Mclaughlin in Leeds in the late 80's playing with jeff Berlin and Trilok Gurtu. I'll have to dig around to see if he's coming to the UK this tour. Graeme |

I'm sorry to admit the last time I saw Johnny Mac was the 2nd coming of Mahavishnu with Hellborg on double neck Wahl opening for Weather Update in NYC. I left WU early, totally worn out from the opening band! |

i have to say I really like the two albums that version of mahavishnu put out, especially adventures in Radioland. Hellborg has long been one of my 'favourite' musicians. he played a superb solo set at last years UK Bass day. he's a pretty nice guy to chat with too. Just a shame he's a Warwick endorsee ;-( graeme |

Hey Warwicks aren't bad. They AREN'T Alembics but they also have much lower price tags ... you get what you pay for. I've owned a few and loved them. I'd take one over a Fender any day! And if Warwick wanted to give me my OWN NAME MODEL (or 5) for free as an indorsement ... sign me up! :-) Heck I'd endorse Peavey for a free personally named and designed model. Wait a second ... I have it ... A free Cirrus top end Ray L. model with Alembic pickups, electronics, and hippy sandwich wood ... I like it! :-) |

Seen JMcL last year at the SAGE in Newcastle UK with Shakti revisited..amazing musician and I always remember the first time I saw him on stage in the UK. I was an impressionable 16 year old..1973, the stage was dark with only this machine gun sound of double bass drums then bang!..a huge wall of complicated unison riffs exploding in the air..this sure wasn't Deep Purple I thought! |

Sounds just like the Deep Purple gig I went to in Newcastle in '72;-) Graeme p.s. Ray - I was kidding. Warwick was my third choice when I was looking for a 5 string in 1996. Only Alembic and pre-gibson Tobias beat it in my opinion. p.p.s. gary Husband played drums on the recent Level 42 tour. Boy is he a monster on the skins. Well worth watching. Didn't Gary Husband play in the original Joe Jackson Band? EDIT: No, that was a Gary Sandford. Not sure how my brain concocted that bit of misinformation. Check out Gary Husband's site - not many drummer/pianists out there who excel on both. (Message edited by adriaan on June 13, 2007) |
