It was the shock of my life the first time I played a Hofner. It felt like a little toy. That was when I convinced Paul was a genius, to get that much out of that little kid of a bass. Don't get me started on Jack and EB3's . . . Joey |

Hmmmm, guess I better be gettin' me a copy, ya think? Yea, Joey, I agree.I used to have a Hofner Beatle Bass. I really didn't think too much of it. I also had a Gibson EB-3. Really hated it. At the time I really prefered Fenders and Ric's, but was already Jones'n for an Alembic. Beatlejuice |

I just bought an autographed (by the author, not the Beatles) copy on eBay. Does anyone know if Sir Paul ever played an Alembic? |

Beatle Gear is an outstanding book, in my humble little opinion. I think it's one of the "must have" Beatle books, along with the Mark Lewisohn books. As for Macca and Alembic, I can't recall ever seeing him playing one. I've seen him with the Hofners, the Rick, a Yamaha, a Wal, and Bill Black's original upright bass...but never an Alembic. |
