FYI, they have 'em on Half.com for about $23.00 (hardcover) and $20.00 for papercover.

It was the shock of my life the first time I played a Hofner. It felt like a little toy. That was when I convinced Paul was a genius, to get that much out of that little kid of a bass.

Don't get me started on Jack and EB3's . . .

Hmmmm, guess I better be gettin' me a copy, ya think? Yea, Joey, I agree.I used to have a Hofner Beatle Bass. I really didn't think too much of it. I also had a Gibson EB-3. Really hated it. At the time I really prefered Fenders and Ric's, but was already Jones'n for an Alembic.

I just bought an autographed (by the author, not the Beatles) copy on eBay.

Does anyone know if Sir Paul ever played an Alembic?

Beatle Gear is an outstanding book, in my humble little opinion. I think it's one of the "must have" Beatle books, along with the Mark Lewisohn books. As for Macca and Alembic, I can't recall ever seeing him playing one. I've seen him with the Hofners, the Rick, a Yamaha, a Wal, and Bill Black's original upright bass...but never an Alembic.
