Hey, Dallas Alembicians,

I know that none of you know me from a stick in the mud, but I have a favor to ask. There's a Series II in Dallas that I'm looking to purchase, but the seller is insistent on local pickup only.

Would any of you be willing to pick up this bass (if/when I buy it), and ship it to Ohio? I'd be willing to pay you for your trouble; I'm not sure how much, but that can be discussed if this actually goes down.

Please email me at ckampman(at)starband(dot)net if this sounds like something you'd be interested in doing.

wowsers. I wish I was in Dallas to help facilitate this. Just to be able to put my grubby little paws all over it.

It's hard to be sure from the photos, but it looks to me like someone put an Alembic logo over the hole where the pick up selector was originally. Cool!

Yes, the Omega tips are gone, but other than that, the bass appears to be in decent shape.

Walnut/maple/mahogany/maple/walnut would be my guess on the sandwich, and the bass is the one on Craigslist.

I'm still debating between this and a 1975 Series I that I've been eyeing for a while-the broken omega points are a concern of mine, but they don't look too bad from the pictures I've got.

There is an Alembic logo over the PU selector.

Thanks to Mike (groovelines) for the offer of help, but I've decided that this bass probably isn't for me-there's just too much about it that worries me.

If anyone in the Dallas area wants this, I'll give you the seller's email.

Are you sure this omega had big tips originally? There are some variations with just the onset of a tip.

If you look at the fifth and sixth pictures up, the breaks are pretty obvious.

A bit dark, but I see now - the monitor I'm looking at is not that good.

I would guess a quick trip to the mothership could have those taken care of with elegance..

I'd love to send it back to the Mothership to get it restored, but I don't have the cash to do so, and the seller's conditions soured the deal for me.

I have two other Series I's I'm looking at as of right now, both of which I am more comfortable with, so we'll see how that works out.

Expect a thread in the intro forum in about two weeks. ;)
