Hi Everyone. :-)

I see it's well past time for a 'bump', re

http://alembic.com/club/messages/449/45241.html?1196931991

so, here's the real deal. ;)

Pacific NorthWest Alembic owners get together basics.

The Island Music Guild booking is solid from 2:00pm until 10:00pm, Saturday January 5th.

Meeting, making introductions, setting up, getting settled etc. starting at 1:30pmish.

From the 'official start time of 2:00pm' until 7:00-7:30pm, it's an Alembic owners get together with lick swapping, song learning, song playing, let's have some fun jamming time. This event is behind closed and locked doors and is *NOT* open to the public.

Sometime around 5:00pmish will be meal time, for those so inclined. Menu is likely a 'standard musicians fare' of pizza, though with advance planning something much more elaborate is doable. ;)

The second event of the day's 'official start time of 8:00pm', is an open to the public performance featuring me and any other Alembic owner(s) that has desire or inclination to join on in. If 'anyone' is so inclined to join me in performing, advance notice would be very much appreciated so I can adjust the advertising of the 'Bass Rumble'. (Not to mention the opportunity of selecting and working up material in advance.)

http://www.islandmusic.org/ for further details.

I think this covers it so...deepens voice

And that's the way it is. Saturday, December 15th, 2007.

Best Regards,

Kimberly :-)

Hi Everyone. :-)

We're now about two weeks from the Bainbridge Island Bass Rumble and who's counting? I sure am! Woohoo! :-)

I've sent emails to those who've expressed interest, with the single exception of Elwoodblue who doesn't have an email on his profile so if you're reading this Elwood, the Rumble is a go. :-)

To anyone who's just now 'hearing' about the get together, find the details at,

http://alembic.com/club/messages/449/45241.html?1196931991

I've confirmation from a drummer, a sax guy and a guitarist.

To say this is going to be fun is an understatement to say the least.

Happy Holidays to All!

Best Regards,

Kimberly :-)

Hi Guys, :-)

There's just no other to way to say it. The Rumble was a 'bust' as far as rumbling the island goes.

I was there at 1:00 off loading and setting up. A bit after 2:00 Brian (briant) shows up and within mere moments Bradley (byoung) comes in. They're off loading and setting up and soon thereafter comes Royce (pinbacking). Basses and bass gear all piled up, stage is full and the drummer hasn't even arrived. Sweet. :-) We're off to a good start, all who said they'd be there are there, except the drummer who's running about an hour behind. Seems likely there's a good drummer joke somewhere here but it's all good, he showed. :-)

Everything's good to this point in spite of the fact we have limited power. Oh, didn't I mention when I arrived half the building was down without power? Yeah, the storm from last night apparently took out some power lines according to my contact person when I called after trying to get the lights on and failed. It's still all good though as I've got power to the spots and washes for the stage and power for the gear. Who needs the kitchen and there's a flashlight to find your way to the restrooms. We can do this. :-)

A lot of time getting to know each other and ooo's and ahhhh's checking out the five Alembics. Next time I'll polish mine up cause man there were some really pretty basses there. And yes, we've got pictures. :-)

So we're yakking away and the guys are talking about different lams and woods, tonal characteristics, pros and cons, etc. It was really very cool to see such real enthusists with such real passion. Not to mention the knowledgebase amongst us all, of general gear experience and just 'stuff'. That was also very cool. :-)

We start to make some music about 3:40, (those guys sure liked to talk ;) ), and at about 3:45 the power goes out for the whole building and for as far as the eye can see. This is not good.

We talk, we wait, we talk, we wait. About an hour and a half goes by, it's getting dark, we start tearing down, while we've still a chance of seeing. Everyone's gone and I'm locking the door at about 6:00.

So, the Bainbridge Bass Rumble was cancelled due to power failure and will be rescheduled for sometime in the summer. All parties present expressed a good time and enthusiasm to get together again. :-)

Details and pictures to follow in a soon to be created Alembic Club>> Showcase>> Alembic Gatherings>> Yet to be named thread. :-)

Far as I'm concerned it was all a good thing. We made friends and enjoyed the 'bond' of the commonality of Alembic ownership and the camaraderie that comes for sharing the same interests with others. That this interest was Alembic basses was the beauty and the magic. :-)

The Bainbridge Island *Summertime* Bass Rumble is a go. :-)

Best Regards,

Kimberly :-)

Well then it doesn't sound like a "bust" to me at all! From the way you've described it, sounds like it a was a great event!

Hey Dave, :-)

It was an awesome time getting to know each other and the magic was definitely in the air. :-)

The misfortune was the most sudden and untimely demise of the music. We didn't even get to do a decent sound check. Man, that was the bust.

Summertime *not* blues coming soon. :-)

Best Regards,

Kimberly :-)

I for one had a great time yesterday even if the weather/power was not on our side. Meeting people and putting faces to names is always good times! I know that many many pictures were taken by everyone but me... so post 'em!! :-)

Looking forward to the next time already!

I'm sorry I didn't make it...I'm glad to hear there is another in the works.
It will be much easier to convince myself to bring out some vintage gear(boogie #002,etc.) in the drier weather.
happy this year to y'all :-)
