For those of you on a Mac, if you haven't done so already, you should go check out the new Apple Music Store online. It is the easiest thing to use; you can purchase songs for a mere 99cents each. Downlodable to your I-pod or available for cd burning with virtually no restrictions, all completely legal & authorized. With over 200,000 titles to choose from (and many more to come), options to search by artist, song or album, chances are you'll be able to find whatever song you've been dying to get for years and could never find. In about 2 weeks the store has already gotten over a million downloads. I just tried it myself for the first time a few minutes ago and bought 2 different versions of "Harlem Nocturne" I'd been trying to find for a long time. Took about 5 minutes total with cable modem...I'm hooked...I read some pretty amazing reviews of The Apple Music Store from different sources like the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times to name a couple, an I'm happy to say that experience is everything it was supposed to be according to them. I can see buying a lot of songs this way. It's also great in that now you can buy only the songs you like off of any album, instead of getting a whole CD for just 2 or 3 songs. A great thing for all music lovers. And if you want to buy the whole album ( artwork included) it's only 9.99. which is another pretty good deal. Would not be surprised if prices go even lower. And for those of you who are on windows ( the majority, I know), don't feel too left out, by the end of the year you'll be able to take advantage of this as well, and I believe you can at least go & check out what it looks like now, even if you can't buy yet.

I don't own any Apple stock, or work for them, by the way..as a music lover (like all the rest of you, I'm sure) I'm just really excited by this development in music commerce and wanted to share it with the club. I don't get that pumped up about most things, but this one really made me happy.

Yes Valentino, it is a great idea!

This is the right step for the music/internet relationship. It's just too bad that a lot of companies chose to put themselves in a bad light over this, rather than actually embracing the technology and the opportunity to use it wisely....

I have to tip my hat to Apple for this one. It is indeed a cool thing. This also definitely helps to fix that "buy a cd for one or two songs" trap. Now you can skip the songs you don't want and just pay for the ones you do want.

The other good part is that there is some leeway for the purchaser with the options to burn to cd or to transfer from one computer to a new one.

Now, if my old Powerbook just had a larger drive..........
