I just read that Noel Redding passed away on Sunday. The following is from Yahoo:

Rock musician Noel Redding, who played bass for 1960s legend Jimi Hendrix, has died at the age of 57.

A stream of tributes flooded in after manager Ian Grant announced on his website that the star died on Sunday.

He said Redding died at his home in Ireland but did not give the circumstances of the death.

Grant wrote on the website: "I can't take it in that once more, I am sitting at my desk bringing sad news. Noel passed away."

The British musician, who was born on Christmas Day, 1945, was part of The Jimi Hendrix Experience along with drummer Mitch Mitchell and singer Jimi Hendrix.

He played bass on the debut album Are You Experienced, which established Hendrix as a singer and composer.

The group dissolved shortly before Hendrix died in 1970.

His partner Deborah McNaughton spoke of her shock at Noel's death.

In a statement on the Track Records website, she said: "Noel was an extremely gentle and gracious soul.

"He had a kind of chivalry and nobility about him and he was kind to everyone bar none, people and animals alike."

Hendrix's brother Leon said his heart went out to Noel's family and to Deborah.

"I first met Noel during his days with The Experience and he was always a beautiful guy," Leon Hendrix said.

"The last time I saw Noel was when he joined us to celebrate Jimi's 60th birthday in Los Angeles last year. It was one of his last performances.

"We loved him and we'll miss him."

Buddy Miles, drummer for Hendrix's Band of Gypsys, said he was "deeply saddened and distressed" at the news.

He said: "He was a wonderfully talented and gifted musician and a good, decent man - a rarity in these times. My prayers are with his family."

yes
I heard it yesterday on the radio and Noel was one of the bass-players I liked to hear. I never saw him with Jimi live but I always liked him "fill the gaps" in that 3 persons band. He really "backed-up", a real bass-player!
Just my idea!
