My girlfriend whom I love more than the next breath I'm about to take is going in to have a biopsy(sp?) done tomorrow on a growth in her uterus. I'm scared out of my mind but I'm not sharing that with her. I'm being strong and optimistic. But I'd be lying if I didn't say that I was terrified out of my mind right now. Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts.

Hi Brian,

It's good to be "strong and optimistic", but don't forget to show her your softer side too. Tell her you love her and tell her you're "terrified out of your mind" *because you love her* so much. It helps because *it's real* and you're right there with her *right now* and *she's not alone*, you're in this together.

Best wishes to you both.

Brian:

Live throws curves at us. Be there for her and you will have less time to think about how freaked out you are, as well you should be. Love is a powerful force, no matter what road life leads us down. Everything we face is easier and better with love. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and sending some good California vibes to her. Good luck.

Hey Brian,

Thinking of you both at this tough time. Have been in a similar stuation and i feel for you! As guys we are never tought to deal with our emotions and it leaves us feeling a little lost when the universe decides to shake us up a little!

Simply keep doing what you are doing...being there for your partner supporting her! It will work out buddy! Best wishes and prayers,

John.

Brian,
My thoughts are with you both. It's Ok to be terrified, It's also Ok to share your feelings with your partner, she may prefer that you do.

Thanks everyone. Really! :-)

So far so good - she's having it removed tomorrow and her doctor told her this morning that odds are exceptionally high that there is nothing to worry about. So that is reassuring!

Briant, this is a fairly basic procedure. I am a surgical tech and know this one pretty well. Hang in there and keep praying.

Brian,

I am an interventional radiologist and medical consigliere for my entire family and extended family. I'm not a gynecologist, neurosurgeon, orthopedist, etc...but my training has given me enough of a knowledge base on the various subspecialties to know when things aren't being done right and my colleagues fill in the blanks. If anything that you're told about your girlfriends procedure or the diagnosis doesn't sound right or you have questions, please feel free to e-mail me.

Regards,

Jonathan

Brian, a similar thing happened to my wife and me about 6 months before we were married. She didn't actually have anything removed or any type of biopsy but her OBGYN said there were some irregularities that were a big concern. It's only natural to be scared when it's someone you love. I had a couple of weeks to reflect on how I really felt about her and our relationship. I realized how much I loved her and still wanted to get married. 20 years later we're still married and doing well.
It all turned out to be benign but it scared me to death too. Hope everything goes well. Wishing both of you all the best of luck with this.

Brian,

I can't really add much to what everyone else has said.I was in a similar state when my girlfriend at the time had a biopsy.Thankfully it was benign but I'll never forget how scared and powerless I felt.I really feel for you,and I hope this awful period of waiting will be happily resolved very soon.

Dig deep and be positive and strong for both of you.I'm sure everything will be fine mate, take good care.Love and positive thoughts to you both.

Simon.

Hi Brian
I am a cancer survivor,a rare type of Myloma probably exposed to airborn chemicals when I was a Police Officer,ya I went through all the therapy, lost my hair, several surgeries heavy duty radiation, feeling deathly sick.
I was given a 50 percent chance and I thought cool that,s better then 10 percent.
I go for testing every 6 months now,and the Dr says I may live a long time.
I live every day a little better,I try to be a kinder person, and dump off any little thing that used to be a bigger thing.
I didn,t want anyone to feel sorry for me and still don,t,but I do wish someone had been with me.
Your Girlfriends very lucky to have someone like you to be along side her,and lets hope everything will go fine.
