Does anyone have any thoughts/experience/input concerning the microfrets philosophy of correcting intonation at the nut? ... because of the difference in action at the nut and the action of a fretted note. I try not to sweat the small stuff...I really like learning about it  . I see now why a zero fret can be a logical solution, they always seemed strange to me until I got my first Mosrite ,now not so much. I guess it's time to pull out the strobe and see how much a finger pressure affects intonation on a guitar that has medium action. thanks all | ||

If it's setup correctly and you don't play ham-fisted, then it should be in tune as-is. A zero-fret is simply an easy way to make sure the nut (zero-fret playing the part of the nut in this setup) is at the correct height. The basses I've built had zero-frets, because I didn't want to suffer through cutting notches in nuts and screwing it up.. John |
