Does anyone here know Kasim Sulton, Prairie Prince, Jesse Gress or Todd Rundgren well enough to help me with an item on my "bucket list"? They are playing nearby at The Handlebar this Friday night (4/18) and I would really enjoy meeting them. Thanks, Art

Try the old fashioned way, ask to get backstage, introduce yourself.

After being off my radar for some years now, it occurred to me just yesterday, that part of my 12 year old daughters musical education should include some old Todd. She is very much into musical theater and vocal harmonies. She has recently become a big fan of XTC's "Skylarking" so maybe this will work too. Tonight I will be putting RA on her ipod. Played Communion With The Sun for her in the car tonight. She said the music made her zone out....

That's my girl :-)

Good luck, James

back in 198?, Utopia would do 5 or 6 nights in a row at the Old Waldorf in SF, an early and a late show. If the late show didn't sell out you could stay for both with an early show ticket. The freaks would buy tix for all 12 shows and be high for months. That was the first and only time I ever saw all four members of a band finish a song, put down or dismount their instruments, and rotate to a different instrument with equal proficiency. Fun times.

Ah, the good ole days! Hope that the old fashioned way works. Times have changed.

I too have a daughter at that age (11) and introduced her to Todd's music some time ago. Todd has been an inspiration for years with songs like A Dream Goes On Forever, Just One Victory, The Last Ride, Fair Warning and many, many more. I've given her the music whenever I can and glad to say that she likes most of what I've introduced.

Appreciate the kind words James.
Regards, Art

James, BTW... If you like the old Todd as you've indicated I was totally impressed with a recent work "Liars" (2004). Critics gave him great reviews tooting it as a best effort in 20+ years. I recommend it as the writing is fantastic. Art

Kasim Sultan's work with Todd was genius. One of my early heroes, for sure.

Agreed, whole heartedly! The first time I saw Kaz was with Todd in April 1980 in Pittsburgh, PA.
Thanks John, maybe we're getting the vibes floating on this thread ;)

Thanks Mike. Those new pictures of your Burl Maple beauty are really nice! And that upright is very cool. Waiting to see where the next NC gathering may be, hope to see you there. Art

Art, an NC Alembic gathering sounds cool. I'll try to make the next one. There seem to be quite a few Alembics in this state.

I'm old enough to remember listening to all three Nazz albums.
