Just to be accurate, the man's name was Albert Hofmann. It's amazing, looking back from the perspective of today, how a bicycle ride on April 19, 1943, begat the 60's as much as anything else did. I am lucky to own a piece of blotter art commemorating the 60th anniversary of Dr. Hofmann's discovery of the psychoactive properties of LSD (five year after he first synthesized the substance) signed by the great chemist himself. While there are rumours that he thought that LSD could help longevity, he attributed his age to two raw eggs every morning with his muesli. I also read that he did take small amounts throughout his life, the last being within the last few years. <http://www.skypilotclub.com/> Edwin |
