i passed the audition with these folks. Really nice guys. No dead for now, but 2 of them like them so maybe one day. Considering the nonsense i put up with the other band, this should be fun. lots of classic tunes, beatles, stones and a potpourri. They asked me out of the gate if i wanted to sing. but for now i need to concentrate on learning like 25 tunes. got gigs lined up and i was also asked if there are tunes i would like to do. such a relief to be treated like an equal
check them out-

well done flax..it comes to all those who wait and eventually that other band will realise their loss but that is their hard luck and they should have thought about it sooner.
I am sure you will soon learn those 25 tunes with no bother

Sounds like a great opportunity. They have some chops and a good sense of the genre (sounds a lot like my band's taste). Hope this takes off for you. BTW, an easy Dead tune to start the uninitiated off with is Bertha.

In the interest of fairness, I must point out that it was Linda, not Yoko, who put the lid on the coffin - Paul's the one who quit the band (and I also feel moved to mention that Yoko's a much better singer than Linda, too)

sage tea? so much potential- too much bulls--t
they never added any tune i wanted to do or play in over a year.....of course no outside tunes- unless they wanted to do one.

Send a sub! Life is too short to be in an unhappy situation. Be free, play to your heart's content and move smoothly into the next phase of life.
In the words of Paul ( happily married to Linda) " When you were young and your heart was an open book, You used to say live and let live, (you know you did) and in this ever changing world in which we live in, makes you give up and cry, Live and Let Die!"

i hear ya dan
---------------
i floated another ad in craigs to get into a dead based band and got a response for a start up situation. of course after i tell the current band i wont be available for their gig they might just answer it.
i am just figuring how to position my not being available. already booked or alright i quit....
should i hold off a while i get acclimated to the new band? right now the plan is to rehearse next friday and if it goes well i play out the next night. these guys dropped off their cd of tunes the following morning and were very complimentary of my style. i was nice to get a compliment....

Sounds to me like they've been grooming a replacement Jeff. You're much better off out of a band like that if you ask me. Good luck with Night School.

funny thing graeme. they said they had too much trouble scheduling rehearsals but had time to find a replacement. if i wasnt such a playing slut whore i should have split months ago....
and they always talked about having a band meeting after every gig and never did.

Perhaps they did have that band meeting... it's just that apparently Flax wasn't invited. It doesn't sound like you'll be missing much.

Good luck moving on, I wish I would get fired from one of my bands....

The only creepy thing about being a musician sometimes is having to deal with other musicians...

Why does this endeavor attract so many people who consider it acceptable, even preferable to act like immature teenagers?

Better to move along, Jeff. These guys you are well rid of.

thats pretty dead on bill. i never understood it either. if ya got something to say- say it
dont email me, dont leave me messages. say it to my FACE. i should have listened to all in this website months ago after the baby made a comment about needing a new bass player because i wouldnt set up right next to the cymbals after i told him i am having significant hearing issues in my left ear.
There are just too many "its all about me" people out there when they are in a team environment.
but unfortunately i let it get to me sometimes.
the bottom line was their attitude aka youre just the bassplayer. well now that they dont have me or my knowledge of tunes to support them, i hope they rot....
lets rehearse- no time in 5 weeks
lets go into a studio and cut a demo so we can get gigs- no
lets add some non dead tunes- no
lets add some non dead tuness- only if they like one
lets add some dead tunes jeff likes- no
lets let jeff sing more than one tune-no
lets pay everyone equally-no
can the lead guitar follow the bass on jam and change things-no
can the lead guitar play in more than 1 key on a jam- no
can the rhythm guitar stop forgetting the words to fire on the mtn or learn the 2nd verse of lovelights?-no
so why am i not letting go? lmao

i just like playing dead music and it was easier letting them chase the gigs. i would be miserable til the music started and miserable after i left
sounds like an old ex relationship---lol
so i will work on getting something going...
first i have to pick up about 25 tunes for the night school... but they are sure nicer to deal with and they dont seem to have a problem with me adding tunes- shheeet even a couple of dead tunes maybe

Flax, you're only spinning because you got the job, so no more "tests". Heh.
