Esbjorn was a great pianist and a leader of a trio (E.S.T.) that many would consider a priceless and timeless addition to the European jazz scene, and the jazz scene in general. He died Saturday in a diving accident. Another musician gone too early at the age of 44. He was a phenomenal player and the band had a fantastically unique sound. I will try to sort out a tribute programme to him on my programme soon. Any good links would be greatly appreciated. This is really nice! darkstar01 Intermediate Member Username: darkstar01 Post Number: 121 Registered: 6-2005 Posted on Sunday, June 22, 2008 - 9:29 am:    not to digress too far, but the bad plus is, in my opinion, the best and most creative band on the scene right now. if you ever get a chance to see them live, do it. they're playing a show in nyc with kurt rosenwinkel on tuesday, and i will definitely be there. dave king (the drummer) has another band called happy apple that's pretty incredible, too.
