I've got the DVD (Crossroads Festival), and I can't tell you how many times I've watched this part over and over again. Amazing.

She looks so, so young. More like 12 than 21. When I first saw her, I thought she was Jeff Beck's daughter. There's a real novelty about her look. But to get a gig with Jeff Beck as well as Chick Corea, Eric Clapton, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Joss Stone and many others, shows that she also has a tremendous talent. Very impressive.

:-)

Anybody notice that she only played with 3 fingers of her left hand? I didn't notice her use of her pinkie finger - a small detail.

The Sadowsky Jazz 5 String looked rather big on her. I agree with Art about her phrasing - very nice.

Shes a realy nice player! I dont think age is such a big deal with musical ability though.

There is a current crop of young bassist emerging who are pushing the capabilities and boundrays of bass playing ever further!

Take a look at the 22 year old Hadrien Feraud. I just got a hold of his first cd release and his ability is quite honestly scaring the hell out of me - he has almost superhuman mastery of the bass!

Many hours of "woodshedding" and of course the talent. It's refreshing that the young can be so far along the curve and is a sign that loved ones around them have been encouraging during the formative years.

And if the mind is open to new ideas... then it's never to late for the "formative" years!

Real nice, lots of serious changes in this 6+ min studio tune on YouTube

And a nice jam at NAMM 2007 with Marcus Miller and Tal.

John.
hadrien played at Bass Day UK last year and was incredible. He's been signed up again for this year as has Adam Nitti and Yolanda Charles. Worth a trip down if you're interested. I usually go down with mike - went by train last time but it would be cheaper if we could get a carful together. more info here.
