Hello,
I know ACME cabs are pretty popular here but
I thought I would share this with those of you looking for affordable speaker cabinets. The company is called Avatar and they have gotten some great reviews!!!!,
I just ordered a 2x10

Go here to check them out and read the reviews http://www.avatarspeakers.com/

I've read the reviews and am blown away by the prices (significantly lower than ACME and everything else). Many of the same kinds of comments players have made about ACME's (i.e. "I already sold my other gear", etc.). I'm especially interested in what you have to buy in Avatar to get full resonant bottom. Also, how efficient/inefficient are the Avatars vs. the sound they produce. Have you (or anyone else) had first hand experience with the Avatars?

HI,
I have not yet played through any of there cabinets, but I have ordered a 2x10 and it should be here by the end of next week.
I will give you the low down next week if you are interested still. But yes the reviews for these are very consistent and very good so I figured for the price it was definately worth a try.
Dave the owner there is amazingly helpful as well, he will answer all your questions quickly and do what he can to make sure you are a happy customer.
He said he has alot of guys using the 2x10 with 5 string basses and that he has not had any complaints.
Anyway I will see for myself next week.

Thanks for the info. I'd love to hear your evaluation of the 2X10 once you play it.

Thanks for the link. I've been going nuts trying to find an unloaded 15 cab. They offer a few. I have a replacement 15 in the box that should be in a cab making noise for me. I love my Acme B210, but I'll try one of Dave's. Perhaps a 212?

Well maybe not that patiently.

I love my Acme Low BII, but the Avatar cabs are solid and sound great. I recently bought an unloaded CB115 and loaded it with a JBL 2226, and also got an unloaded CB112 and put in a McCauley B1240. The Avatar cabs are well made and give you a real good bang for your buck. And Dave is great to work with.

I am currently using an Avatar 2-10 & 1-15 setup and love it. I play in original melodic rock band and the sound of these two cabs together is just wonderful. Dave's customer service is second to none! Can you call any of the other hi-end companies and get the owner on the phone? I wish I would have found Avatar BEFORE I bought my Eden 410 XST.

BTW...First post and new member, No Alembic yet but I'm working on it :-)

Hi, Welcome!
Dave certainly offers a real "bang for the buck" my 2x10 has performed really well for me in the studio, warm and clear. Im running it through an Eden WT400 (EQ pretty much flat, no problem being heard through the drums electronic and live, multiple synths, guitar). I cant really comment on using it on stage yet but I have considered picking up the 15 as well for use live.
