The body shape doesn't do it for me, though it's a very pretty guitar. I couldn't find any price on the web site, either.

I'm with Bill on this one. Beautiful woods. Just can't get into the body shape. Kind of like staring at a PRS that went down the rabbit hole...

Do Alembic use special glue when laminating the coco bolo..he says that it a very oily wood and the adhesive will not take.

As I understand it, they do have to use special glue formulations and methods. The oiliness is extreme. My only experience with the oils in CB is in trying to get a urethane finish to dry on the stuff. Thank heaven I tried a scrap piece first - the wood's so oily that the urethane never did dry fully. Ironically, cocobolo gets on just fine with nitro lacquer, so I did the finish with nitro. While a little more prone to wear than harder finishes, coco through a nitro clear coat is as pretty as it gets. On the other hand, the dust from dealing with CB is extremely irritating to most people (some to an extreme) - resulting in headaches and skin irritation. I wonder how the Alembic folks keep that problem in check with all the coco they use.

I thought it was nice also. While not my fave, I didn't even mind the slightly weird Cripe-meets-PRS look. What I did mind was the cheapo plastic backplates. I'm sure the thing isn't cheap. I must be spoiled by Alembic's polished/plated solid brass or continuous/nearest-neighbor wood backplates. Sorry, if I offended anyone...I don't mean to be a snob.
