I just got this semi-beat-up 1981 Gazelle as a Pawn Shop Prize, and it's awesome (and I'm a bass player, btw...). She bought it new in 81 (same time I bought a Power Mk bass. Bill, my Gazelle sounds and plays great, I prefer it over both of my Martins (one a pre war Martin). I've installed them in three acoustics and they sound wonderful. I think you can send your guitar to Taylor Guitars if you want their preamp.
