Great reading about the Funkiest basslines. But I think something that would really be educational is What is the most overused and abused bassline? No fair using anything from the disco era. I register BARNEY MILLER as my vote. (Message edited by pastorscott on September 12, 2003) |

My vote (and any of you who are honest will cop to this): That darn 'bucketofbolts' figure in walking bass under shuffles. You know the one . . . 1-3-4-4#-5-(quick eighth-note arpeg down to the five an octave down)-5-6-7-1. . . . you know you've done it. . . it's OK . . . it'll just be between us. I won't tell your mother. Say, did I tell you about my vibration treatment for your bass? J o e y |

Cream - "Sunshine of your Love" - People who have never played a bass before in their lives will automaticly pick out the opening riff. |

The opening riff of "Je t'aime, moi non plus" (sorry US this is a EU thing) of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin. Paul the bad one (Message edited by palembic on September 15, 2003) |
