Distillate - Body shape, Purple Heart neck laminates and if I'm not mistaken, Europa electronics with pickup selector instead of pan control and AXY pickups The Spoiler and the Persuader are identical except for the pickups and electronics Spoiler - AXY pickups, Volume, Filter + Q switch and pickup selector Persuader - J and or P pickups (any combinations) Volume, Volume and Filter. I think that's about it for the "standard" models. (Message edited by fc_spoiler on March 09, 2009) |

Distillates also tend to have a slightly thinner body than most other Alembics. I had a solid koa Spoiler for a while that had a Distillate-thickness body, so that's not a universal truth. As far as electronics, I think of Distillate as a Spoiler with the addition of the quick tone bass and treble switches. I'm not sure if there's any difference between the two descriptions or which is more correct. One other recollection I have from the Persuader I owned was that it has a single preamp. Some other models have a pair of internal trim pots to balance the pickups as well as tweak the tone. The Persuader only had one, so pickup balance had to be attained through height adjustment. There's probably accurate info in the FAQs section of the board here as well, but I didn't look either. -bob |
