Hello Friends , I've tried this precise bass last week , it sounds really good indeed ! ...but is the price fundamentaly justified ? ...are all custom shop so expensive ? I don't really know fender that much so all your comments are welcome ! http://www.musicstore.de/fr_FR/BEF/Fender-CS-Marcus-Miller-IV-Bass-MN-Natural-inkl.-Case/art-BAS0003416-000# Best regards from Belgium |

Well, I always say that if you really like something, have the money to spare, and can afford it than it does not matter what the price is, within reason of course. That said, these days I try and buy used as often as possible. Is this the same bass: http://cgi.ebay.com/USED-FENDER-MARCUS-MILLER-SIGNATURE-JAZZ-BASS-NATURAL_W0QQitemZ330313705116QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item330313705116&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A570%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50 |

At one our our local music shops (Steve's Music Store, Montreal (local Alembic dealer)), the manager said that (these are his words, not mine) Marcus Miller IV's are all made in the Orient. Only the V's are made in the USA and he hadn't heard of any custom shop models. The IV's sell for around $1,800.00 Canadian and the V's for around $2,200.00 Canadian Ellery (Lowlife) |

I've seen a couple of Custom shop instruments and amps, and I have to say, that funny sound they make? That's Leo, turning over in his grave. |

That looks like a custom shop Marcus. I have the 4 string made in Japan model and it differs by not having the battery compartment in the back of the body and It looks like there is a cutom shop decal on the back of the headstock. I would highly recommend finding a used Japan model. They are very high quality basses. |

The ad says it's from a limited run of 10 Masterbuild Custom Shop basses for the German market and there's indeed the CS logo on the headstock ;-) |

Have you tried the actual bass out? I ask because bolt-neck basses seem to be hit-and-miss; some are even across the strings and some fart out on the E...why I spent the money on my Alembic; the string I use the most better sound good! Tony |
