I agree with the guy who said he should have used stainless steel fasteners if he was going to expose them to salt water.

You'da think he'd notice all those screws poking outta the hull, and that it would be a problem?!

Hmm..didn't he summise that the screws he was using were longer that the originals..I guess not to his expense.
Guess the next refit on the agenda was glass fibre repair.

I got one for you that may even top this.
I had a neighbor years ago that was changing the oil in his car. Drained the oil removed the filter and realized he only 4 quarts of oil and needed one more. Well he hops into the car, yes the one with the oil drained and filter removed, drives to the parts house only to be returned via a wrecker.

DOH!

Since we're on this topic... a fews years back, I watch my neighbor back out her garage, and run over her son's skateboard left on the driveway. Common sense would dictate to stop, get out of the car, and see what you had just run over. Nope... what does she do... promptly pulls forward, and runs over it again.

Common sense just doesn't go to everyone.

olieoliver..many years ago a friend of mine did an oil change, he was not to blame as he is very competent mechanic, as he went into his garage to get the oil and filter his wife dropped the bonnet(hood for your guys), jumped in the car and sped off(late for some hair appointment or thereabouts) whilst my friend ran down the road shouting her to come back..she didn't as she didn't notice him in the mirror.
He only got a call on her mobile(cellphone) about 5 minutes later saying the car suddenly stopped..Ouch.
Needless to say there were many arguments but the only good news was that the crankshaft had survived but the cams, valve followers and upper bearings were shot(it was a toyota..solid bottom end)
I helped him with the re build.

I remember hearing about this one a few years ago:

Down on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert, an hour east of Bakersfield, CA, some folks, new to boating, were having a problem. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get their brand new 22 foot boat, going. It was very sluggish in almost every maneuver, no matter how much power they applied. After about an hour of trying to make it go, they putted into a nearby marina, thinking someone there may be able to tell them what was wrong. A thorough topside check revealed everything in perfect working condition The engine ran fine, the out-drive went up and down, and the propeller was the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath. He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard. Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer!

doooohhhhhh!

Bill, tgo
