Wishbone Ash "Handy".
I remember talking about this tune a while back on this forum and it came up again Monday night in a conversation I was having. It's not the fastest jaw dropping bass solo you'll hear but it had a major influence on my playing style. Probably why I didn't approach bass guitar in the tradition sense for my time, the 70's.

A cool melodic dark bass line in this song.

Wow! Thanks!! I haven' sat down and listened to that tune in a long time; what a pleasant surprise!

I loved Wishbone Ash from the moment I first heard the first cut on the first album. The first four albums are all great. And yes Martin Turner's moving bass lines are a big part of why they were so good; along with Steve Upton's drumming and those two beautiful twin guitars. I always thought Upton's snare work was exceptional among rock drummers.

Man, I love those guys. Thanks for posting that. I'm gonna have to dig out Argus (my favorite) and give that a listen, it's been a long while.

Steve Upton was "up" there with Bill Bruford as far as early seventies amazing rock drummers.

Big Ash fan. I was always rather partial to their album "There's The Rub". "F.U.B.B." is a great track.

'Pilgrimage' is the predecessor to 'Argus' and is well worth a listen, especially the bebop 'Vas Dis' opening the album.
One of the first bands I saw in the early 70's, they were featured on BBC4 Prog Rock series a few months ago

I played live with them as support act way back in the 70's.
Brilliant band!

This is what I first thought Tom. Then I reread it.

Good grief! If you go to YouTube and search on Wishbone Ash, their entire discography is there in video. OK, maybe not the ENTIRE set, but a heck of a lot of it.

Here's the aforementioned Vas Dis, always loved that track!

Enjoy!
