This went on for 90 minutes:

There were 3 F4 tornadoes just over the ridge whipping this all up. Luckily, no real injuries and we were the only band that didn't get to play.

Hey Edwin-
I was also at Delfest this past weekend and that storm was absolutely unreal. My wife, 23 month old daughter and I were camped out in the Meadow with a friend listening to Sam Bush when it started. We tried to weather the storm under our sunshade/tent and beach umbrella but after the first round of hail when that insane wind moved in our tent and umbrella were torn to shreds and we basically had to run. We then camped out under the beer tent (bare feet in hail slush) while the storm seemed to let up but before we could regroup the second more intense round of hail and wind came in and all hell broke loose. We tried to hold the beer tent down by the flaps but the wind ripped it right off the steel. We then made a second run for the grandstand through calf deep mud only to find the gate locked. Eventually I managed to squeeze my daughter and wife through a hole in the fence and we rode out the rest of the storm in the grandstand. All in all it was quite a memorable experience however if anything had gone slightly different it is easy to see how the memory may have been quite bad. The strangest part of the whole thing, given the recent boom in outdoor summer music festivals, is how unprepared the festival seemed for this. Locked gate for an evacuation route? Why not hire someone to man the gate? And how much could it possibly cost to hire a meteorology student with a laptop to sit and watch the radar for 3 days? I guess those things are pretty obvious in hindsight but absolutely necessary none the less.

That storm caught everyone by surprise. They had people watching doppler radar, but it spun up so quick that there was no time to do anything. Most of our gear is fine, but something is screwy with my Lexicon G2 (grrr. Can't get those anymore) and I haven't fired up my in ear rig yet, which is two Metric Halo 2882s and an RME Octamic. I really hope those are fine.

Despite all that, I actually had fun! Got to meet some great people, it was good to hang with the McCoury clan again and I was amazed that they got the stage up and running for an 11pm Leftover Salmon set. I was actually sad to leave (we had to hightail it out of there for an afternoon set near Peoria IL the next afternoon. That went great after drying our gear our for a couple hours in a hotel parking lot after driving all night).

Ah, life on the road!

Glad you are all OK
