Tribute and EH Mini Q Tron - issues!!

I have it set on the LP setting and love what that gets me with the low end. Problem is with the higher register...tone is bordering on shrilly/shrieky/trebly. I've played around with Q and Drive knobs on the Q as well as the controls on the Tribute. Using only the neck pickup as that's my preferred clean setup. Any suggestions?
