Im probably going to be putting my B25 head up for sale, and am kind of stumped as to what to put for an asking price.

In 2005 it was retubed, had a new power cord added, and I think a new transformer.

The amp itself sits loose in the wooden enclosure, but that is probably an easy fix.

Hi Gregory. I sold my B 25B three years ago for $600. It went to a studio owner(where I later recorded with it). I just wasn't able to take it on the road and it sat in my closet. This is in Ore. East/west coast may be different, but it went fast!
It was also retubed and balanced.

Nick.

Hi Nick,

$600.00 ? Just to clarify, that is just for the head? or the head and cabinet both?

Here is one that has nine hours to go on the auction; so you'll know in nine hours what this one went for.

And here is one that recently sold for $406 plus $50 shipping.

I imagine that the fact that it was recently retubed should add some value.

Yes sir, that was just for the head. It was/is in really good condition. I love those Ampeg beta bass heads. The cab's, not so much so. I could get the best Jamerson sound out of it with my 71' tele bass factory outfitted with all 50's parts. I think 71-72 was the last year they did that. Just think, My girl, and you know what I'm talking about. Someone in the Club should grab that amp for home use and studio. 71' tele bass

Actually, mine is a B25, not a B25B, if that makes much difference.

I agree Nick, the sound of these heads are great. I know I'll probably regret selling it....

Than don't bro. Is a couple hundy worth not having a really specific old school sound? I live in a really small house, so I can't have a studio of my own and my GF is cool, but sometimes I see that look of closet envy. I wish I had 60-70 sqft for a micro-studio.
Anyway, It seems like the difference between the two is slight. Talk bass forum has a good discussion about them, and there is one for sale in Charlotte for $475 on Craigslist
