This song was mentioned in the favorite guitarist's thread... I always thought Mikey melted this. Widespread Panic; Greek Theatre 10-14-01 w/ Carlos Santana. I saw 26 shows in the Spring and Fall, and though I had tickets for this run I gave them up because I could not skip any more classes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KOPyTN1uTQ |

I posted this before, but just in case, the winds never made it your way, this is a performance during the the 70's. Maggot Brain goes back to the Funk-a-delics Rock years after Jimi died. Mike and Eddie strongly admired Jimi's work, and continued to incorporate a new form of music called: "Psychedelic-Funk-Rock". I believe songs: Maggot Brain, and Cosmic Slop, are their biggest hits supporting this style of music. One other note: Seeing those guy using Alembics during the 70's, was my first encounter of them. Years later, I'd become aware of Stanley Clarke and everybody else. So, I owe my Alembic experience with P-Funk. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4YsGIIx-XQ |

I went to see the Parliafunkadelicmentthang in London back in '79 and this was their opening number. It started out with just one guy ambling on & picking up a guitar & slowly playing the intro, house lights still partially up. Then a second guitarist, bass man (Skeet Curtis I think) & the drummer appeared & it really just sounded like people tuning up & I swear much of the audience didn't realise it was the start of the show They were so good I went back the next night to see them again, lol |
