Well, the grant-funded program I'd been working on since November depleted its budget Thursday. Bummer. But, I have an interview in 3 hours - for the job I want. I think I'm pretty well qualified, and 2 of the 3-person interview panel are folks I consider friends, but it's still an interview, and if I was any good at selling myself I'd still be a soundman, so I'm sitting here blathering through my keyboard to keep from totally losing it. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Hey, if it helps, you can use me as a reference. I'll try to sound coherent when they call.

Thanks, all. I think it went well, and I'm WAY glad it's over (man, do I hate wearing a suit!) At least I'm no longer worried about my interview - now I'm worried about how well the other candidate will do. I should know by the end of the week.

I wish you all the best.

It will be yours if it is meant to be.

The GFC is taking its toll around the world.

Lay off employees, make a fat profit, then lose business beacause of bad service.
Hire on a bunch of new Dole fodder then the cycle starts again.

One downfall in modern business is the belief that bigger is better. Growth it's called.
Saturation or critical mass is ignored or masked by poor financial planning,
poor forecasting and lack of contingency planning.

I am getting a new job soon (if I can find the right one).
My current place of employment has been taken over by a huge corporation quick frankly the place is a RODEO.
Full of CLOWNS and COWBOYS with a hefty dose of BULL.
(apologies to clowns, cowboys and bull for the negative inference)

Man I got to stop lighting up before I get online....

Good luck Peter!

Thanks for all the good energy - alas, it was to no avail. I just got the "I'm so sorry, but..." call. Crap.

Peter,

Just go play bass, for a living! You might be happier, but there's a good chance you wouldn't make enough to pay all your bills AND eat.

Sorry, just trying to lighten the mood. Good energy and well wishing is never to no avail, something interesting will come along, for sure. Have faith, trust, and a sprinkle of Alembic wood dust!

Seriously, I'm just trying to inject some humor into a situation which is always hard- jobs, job hunting, unemployment, and finances.

I really believe that you'll find something in the next 3 weeks. Keep your eyes peeled!

Peace;)

Peter, I wish you all the best.... I have a school-aged summer helper on my crew who's wage is grant dependent. His original revenue stream dried up when Obama took over, so we had to review all our options... Instead of going thru the united way, we found funding thru the school system...The money is out there, it's just a matter of chasing it and proving your cause is worthy.

((((GOOD LUCK))))
