I'm a smoker-duh. With the ever rising cost of cigarettes (app$5per pack online $11 in NY on the street)of course thanks to the govt who loves to tax vices, lol and the banning of smoking in bars-oye vey-AND bowling alleys etc, its just a frkn hassle. Lets not get into the where to smoke and clean air- thats not what where i am heading.
My fiancee hates the smell and has started leaving the room when i light up. other smokables dont seem to bother her i.e. cigars-go figure.
So to keep the peace and relationship in tact i started searching around for electronic cigarettes. read some reviews- some products suck- no pun intended but i found a good one.
they're called greensmoke.
its a 2pc nifty system that has a battery and a screw on container of nicotine in varying strengths.
simple and easy.comes in a variety of flavors.
the high is a little different than regular cigarettes only in that there are none of the other junk chemicals that speed delivery in a regular cig. so its takes some getting used to.
so i can smoke anywhere as the only vapor exhaled is H2O.
no ashes all over the frkn place- no burn holes in my shirts. no smell on me which helps as a salesman- if i ever get another job.
a cartridge is equal to say a pack and change.
they are currently running a lot of specials on their website. it was the highest rated e cigarette anywhere it was reviewed.
anyone else try em?
plus as my volcano smoking lawyer friend says- there are no carcinogens being inhaled
and your lungs aint getting coated anymore, no cigarette mouth either and as a bonus
these cost less than real cigarettes

I used e-cigarettes when I gave up the habit last April. I never had much of a problem with nicotine cravings, but I missed having something in my hands to play with and suck on. (Yes, I know there's a bad joke in there somewhere, but I'll leave well enough alone). The e-cigarettes worked great for that purpose. It was surprising how often I'd be with a group of smokers and no one would even notice that my e-cigarette wasn't real. I soon stopped inhaling, though, as I decided I didn't want too much of that stuff in my system. After a couple of months I slowly stopped the e-cigarettes without any effort. Haven't had a ciggy since, and my wife still smokes at least a pack a day.

How do these e-cigarettes work if you want more than a nicotine high? ;-)

I've had to hospitalize a handful of people who developed pneumonitis secondary to something in the smoke. It is apparently a rare reaction, but just be advised...

Good luck with it, Jeff. Maybe also give thought to a smoking cessation class. A few years before I met the lovely & charming, I went cold turkey on a 5-pack-a-day habit with no problem. She smoked less than a pack a day, and I'm afraid I was nasty about it for 19 years ("I quit 5 & you can't quit 1? You're not even trying!" ect.) Patches, gum, hypnotism, acupuncture - she tried it all. End of 2001 she did a class at the local hospital (American Heart Assoc., I beleive) & hasn't had one since 12-31-01. One day while she was doing this, I was listening to NPR & they had a smoking cessation counselor talking - said that someone who smokes like I did, with one always going, smokes on autopilot & just has to beat the physical addiction, while a light smoker is also responding to specific psychological triggers, which makes kicking 1 pack much harder than kicking 5. Oops. Again, good luck with it, and, as Simon said, good to see you back.

Peter
ps - $11?!?!? Sh*****t! The week after I quit, I saw my first 75¢ pack, and figured I'd gotten out just in time!

JACKO
the cartridges come in various mgs- from 0-16mgs which they say is the equiv of a camel cig
if ya want a bigger hit- you put your finger over a teeny hole at the end and get no air in the mix
the cartridges contain nicotine, flavor and glycol

quit? i'm like bill- if my ---- isnt in my hands, then its a pen a cig-etc
i wonder if thats because i wasnt breast fed?
oye

btw-its www.greensmoke.com

Hey Flax, how are you?

I just wanted to chime in that this year I quit a 1.5 pack a day habit (40 years) with Chantix. It is a miracle drug. First I took it for 90 days, but went back to smoking. For the next time I took it for 6 months, and now I have been smokefree for 11 months. Although this is one of the longest times I have ever went without cigs, I must now figure out what to do with the weight I gained!

Chantix rules! Take it for six months minimum!

So strange to be able to smell things after 40 years...

place an order for the main stuff at 20 off. buy the apple and strawberry which are on sale.
there is another 10% coupon off on the front page
when i bought the kit and 1 pack of tobacco flavor the discount was 5%= the next morning it was 10%- 2 days later is was 15%- so i called and bitched and they gave me a store credit for the difference.
there is a 30 day money back guarantee(which i used as leverage for the refund) on the cigs but not the cartridges

as for chantix- i tried it 2 yrs ago-
my medical plan covered it
i had really BAD nightmares which is one of the side effects and had to quit- the one thing i did notice is that i didnt need the first cig til later in the day. BUT the nightmares were horrific and it does have multiple numerous possible side effects
my worst nightmare was that hal came to my house-lmao...........

Yes, I had heard about the nightmares on Chantix.

Good part for me was that I couldn't tell the difference.

this wasnt about the merits of smoking guys- i know its a messy habit- just trying to help with an alternative to cigarettes
its the hardest addiction imho to quit-although i qualify that remark by saying i never did meth and caught myself before getting addicted to other narcotics if you catch my drift.
one day i am sure they will come up with a shot that will "cure" the addiction.
can you imagine if the founding fathers decided to make hemp the cash crop instead of tobacco?

Flax, good to see you back! a former co-worker was a major smoker(would smoke with the patch on!)who's now quit; he feels that the patch actually was a hindrance...basically if you're ready, you're ready, so quit! Tony
