Here's me and my Spoiler a couple of weeks ago. It was it's public debut, and the public seemed to enjoy it.

Hey Gregg, really cool looking and a great flame maple top. The Spyders and Exploiters are really great! Many greetings Oliver (Spyderman) |

Gregg, Gregg, Gregg. You're wearing that bass far too high! Let that strap out two or three feet, OK? |

Is it THAT high? It's where it feels most comfortable, and I can get the most control. I've tried wearing my bass lower, and it just feels awkward. |

I've often thought that the best thing we can all do is to play out where people can see these unique instruments, and so it's good to see these gig shots (...especially where you're doing a shot!) with your new bass. Did you get the usual questions? "Is that an (Ibanez/Charvel/Warmoth/Carvin,etc.)? "O-l-y-m-p-i-c? Did the rest of the band HEAR the difference? J o e y |

Gregg; it doesn't look too high to me. In fact, the fourth picture shows that both your right and left hands appear to be in comfortable playing positions. |

I got "O-l-y-m-p-i-c" from a friend, who's a non-musician. The rest of the band LOVES the sound. My brother (who's in the band with me...he's the one with the Les Paul) and I cite the 'orrible 'oo as a major influence, so an Olympic...sorry... Alembic made perfect sense. Listening to The Ox, I knew the sound I was getting, but nothing tops plugging it in for the first time and being completely floored by what came out of the amp. Just having the bass made me change my style from playing about 90% of the time with a pick, to 90% with my fingers. I just love the feel of the thing. Oh yeah...that wasn't a shot I was drinking...I...uhhh...had a...ummm...errr...cold, so that was...ahhh...cough medicine I was drinking. I would never have an adult beverage on stage, right? |

Yeah, I always heard that tequila is good for a cold. Especially January in Chi-town. Sam, the ex-Rockford one

Tequila is good, and I have heard that Jagermeister can be good for what ails you. Allegedly. |

Good looking bass. I like the gold top too. I always wanted one of those! My Exploiter is in Walnut and looks rather plain next to yours and Spyderman's and the Zebrawood one in the other thread, but I still love playing it and wouldn't trade it for anything. Except maybe a gold top LP. John Paul |

"I have heard that Jagermeister can be good for what ails you." Mmm-mmm deer blood! Yum! Now, for a Guinness to take that taste out of my mouth... I was just kidding you on the strap thing, Sluggo. Whatever feels right, is right, never mind the bizarre humor of fellow posters. Glad to hear you dropped the pick, too (ducking the hail of picks pitched by plectrum pluckers). Once upon a time, I had a bass very similar to yours, though the figuring on the top was not as nice. I used to wear it down by my knees (the top "horn" was below my belt buckle) and it balanced just fine. Didn't have the elbow support you're enjoying, though... Guinness?! Now you're talking. That's right up at the top of the food group. St Patrick's Day at my house this year. Guinness and boxteys for all! I better hush until I clear this with Senior Management. |
