So after many long Alembic-less months, my Languedoc g4 that I ordered a little over a year ago is finally here!! As promised, I have returned to share some photos of my new guitar with my favorite online forum. I really miss my series I, but now that my Languedoc is safe in my hands, I have no regret at all, and can finally start dreaming of yet another Alembic to hopefully come in the future. Top is Claro Walnut, Back/sides are African Black Walnut Light as a feather, and the contoured back allows it to sit very comfortably against you as you play. The neck is flawless, and of perfect thickness. I am in love again!!       | ||

Thanks! It really sounds great. The walnut gives it a very warm and sweet tone. The neck is very fast, and its got great harmonics all over. A joy to play. | ||

Sweet! I'm glad you went with the G4. It doesn't scream "Trey"! Let me know if you ever want to compare Languedoc and Alembics (I'm in Plattsburgh). | ||

Dan, I'm glad I went with the g4 too. I did it for just that reason. I've wanted my own doc for years, but didnt want to blatantly rip off Trey's guitar. Just like with Alembics, id rather play a series 1 guitar with a a standard point (like i used to have) than a tribute or wolf any day. Inspiration is the key, not so much trying to replicate my heros. Id love to jam some time if you wanted to make a comparison. Ive always wanted to play a skylark, I havnt had the opportunity yet. I sure miss the way my series I felt to play. | ||

A slight digression, has anyone tried Langcaster guitars from New Zealand? They are made with low impedance pickups. I've read the bumf about it on their web site and the you tube sound clips are great.  I'm considering getting some of their replacement pickups for one of my guitars that has seymour duncans in that I don't like the sound of. First choice would be alembic activators but funds don't stretch that far at the moment, plus I need a guitar a non alembic powered guitar so that I have something I can get a dirty sound out of easily. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGsTb__854w Jazzyvee | ||

Jazzy- I played a couple of their basses while living in NZ and actually spoke to them about building me a swamp Kauri bass, but the timing of things never quite worked out and I never could come to grips with their headstock design (which they didn't seem willing to alter much). I thought the basses sounded fantastic. Haven't ever the guitars live. | ||

Hey Keavin, I know what you are saying and thats something I've discovered after having an orion guitar. and a strat with alembic activators, they really like being clean. However my series I Dragon guitar is a different animal in that respect and sounds great with overdrive and gives a great santana tone which is the kind of warm creamy overdrive I prefer. I don't need a sharp heavy rock screaming tone. What interests me as well about these langcaster pickup sets is that they have a built overdrive/distortion circuit so it should be able to give me a bit of the best of both worlds. I don't use overdrive much in my playing but sometimes I need a little to spice things up on a solo. I'm hoping that I will get a chance to lay my hands on one of their guitars before outlaying cash.
