I have one of the old blue box type alembic power supplies. havent used it for a few months, last time i had it out it was working, tried it the other day and it was not working....

Does this need to be sent back into Alembic, or can a local repair guy possibly fix it?

Im pretty sure all that's in there is a step-down transformer, some diodes and filter caps.... If you have a meter that can check for continuity, chances are you'd isolate the problem component or lead.

Any local tech should be able to repair it. Here is a link to a thread with a schematic of the power supply. Mica also talks about sourcing the transformer.

The only thing that's ever failed for me is the power cord either at the molded plug end or at the point where it enters the box. Try jiggling these spots and see if your LEDs light up. Replacing the plug is simple, the grommet end is bit tougher but not impossible.

I've had the diode between the power cable and the transformer fail. I just bypassed it like on the older ones.
