As I recall they wrapped their own pickups at the time but my memory is fuzzy in that regard. The pickups are V-C customs, not like anything else out there. The electronics are not unusual - two volumes, two tones, pickup selector. This bass doesn't have the orignal knobs which were really cool brass knobs that looked like the ball on a barbershop pole. The woodwork on these old instruments is fantastic. Joe Veillette's current stuff isn't quite as flashy as these old ones, but absolutely super too. This one is bolt-on, but since Joe doesn't do anything the easy way, it has only one bolt!
