Stanley's abuse/heckling of audience member at Yoshi's May 13/2010
I was deeply disappointed and embarassed for Stanley as he heckled a fan of his at the Yoshi's Oakland concert yesterday.

It was a long-time fan who paid a lot of money to get a front row seat. He was sitting right beside me. He was simply having a drink and enjoying the show.

For some reason, Stanley looked at him askew, said he looked like he was "out of it," proceeded to ask "Do you even know who we are?" and then mocked him with a dazed look as if to say he looked like that. He then literally went on to say "You're on crack cocaine, right?"

I am not making this up. There are 200-300 witnesses to this behavior.

The fan was crushed. He was an incredibly intelligent fan that I spoke to who owns literally every album Stanley has played on, and has attended more than 50 Stanley shows.

Stanley should be completely ashamed of himself. It was totally pathetic and unprofessional. No-one was laughing. The fan said he was going to dump all of Stanley's recordings and tell everyone he knows to never go see him play.

Stanley lost a lot of fans that night.

Good luck to him

Nobody knows what was happening between Stanley and the guy at the Yoshi's gig. Maybe the guy was there the night before giving people a hard time and Stanley didn't feel like putting up with it. You never know.
The times I've seen Stanley, he and everyone else in the band were very cool and polite, just having a good time.
It would be really hard to live your life in the spotlight.

There is a virus threat being loaded on the link above at Stanley's site (this may come and go depending on the additional content banners being delivered with the page request). I got the erroneous "redirect scan" when accessing the page. Upon reciept of this type of message it is best to use the right corner x to close the pop-up message and immediately close the browser window that spawned the message (the browser will appear as windows explorer and that it's running a scan of your hard drive - NOT)... close these windows immediately and NEVER answer OK or YES to the pop-ups (if you do this will usually set the Vundo virus into action on your computer and not a fun one to correct). I then returned to the link at Stanley's site and upon arrival I hit the "stop" button on the browser to stop the loading of all other content so that you may then read the thread. This generally happens where content banners are loaded and folks are writing malicious code within the banners delivery. I see this activity quite frequently at myspace.com. Hope this helps, Art

Back to the thread now... agreed, we do not know what Stanley and the band were dealing with.

Keavin - that is truly sad to hear.

Regardless of what happend the night before or who in the band was not feeling well or whatever - being professional is all about . . . well - being professional. Publicly humiliating someone should be done with extreme care or at best with a boat load of facts to back up your statements.

hmm his attitude in this video is not exactly what I would call "humble"... i mean its about the music first, and i dont want to judge art by how the individual is as a person..we all have our flaws and edges...but as a fan its a bit disappointing

Don't know the man at all. All I know is that there's a big difference in people who stand on stage and play, and the showmen who can front a band and run the audience as well.

That was more than 25 years ago...

Give Stanley some slack. Stanley is still one of our most Senior Alembic Brethren.

Peace and love,
