hey guys, i just got a Gallien Krueger 1001RB bass head for graduation/birthday that i'm running through my Ampeg SVT-1540HE and was wondering if anyone can explain how the effects loop works on it with the send and return. Right now i just have my pedal board running straight to the inout and was wondering what the effects loop would do for the sound and volume levels of the different effects. thanks! ~Taylor |

Taylor; congrats on the graduation! The effects loop will put the effects after the preamp section of the head and before the power amp section. As a generalization, things like delay and reverb tend to run better in the effects loop, while something like an overdrive or distortion might work better between the instrument and the preamp like you have now. But that's a generalization; experiment some and see what sounds good to you. |

tmoney..nice reward, I guess you did your parents proud. As dave says some effects are better thru the loop and some not but if you have a bass multi effects ie Boss ME50B etc then you can still use the distortion/overdrive thru the effects loop but adjust the EQ on the board to get a better effect. I always have used the SEND/RETURN as I run a wireless system..I was sick of tripping over cables! |
